Privacy

The Mac app records only while you hold the Fn key or after you explicitly start a recording from the menu bar. There is no passive listening and no passive screen capture — ever.

• While recording, a copy is kept locally on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/DictationAgent/Pending Recordings so a network or transcription failure never destroys what you said.
• When you finish, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and transcribed. Cloud audio is discarded once transcription completes. We do not build a library of your recordings.
• The local copy is removed after the transcription is safely stored — or stays on your Mac until a retry succeeds or you delete it. It remains under your control the whole time.

• Your email address, used for password-free sign-in.
• Your notes: the original transcription (kept immutable), the cleaned-up version, and any transformed versions you create. This is your Memory — storing it is the product.
• Usage metering: seconds of transcription and the size of transform requests, used for your plan allowance and the usage insights shown in Settings.
• For the Mac app, the status of its permissions (Microphone, Accessibility, Input Monitoring) so Setup can show real state and repair itself. No audio content and no keystroke content is ever reported.

• OpenAI transcribes audio and powers cleanup, transforms, search embeddings, and Ask. We use their API, whose terms exclude using API data to train their models by default.
• Supabase hosts our database and sign-in.
• Vercel hosts the web app and API.
• Stripe handles payment. Your card details go to Stripe directly; we never see or store them.

These providers process your data only to run AudioArcher. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use your words to train models.

• Export — download your entire memory as portable Markdown from Settings, any time.
• API and MCP access — your memory is yours to connect to other tools.
• Deletion — delete individual notes, or permanently delete your account and all cloud data from Settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
